Other Activities for Children

Perhaps, because it rains as much as it does, the Dutch have a different perspective on playgrounds.  The “best” playgrounds are “private,” in the sense that they are only open at certain times and sometimes charge a small fee.  In addition, in the Eindhoven area, there are a couple of large, indoor physical entertainment centers that are well worth checking out as you begin to feel your kids climb up the walls during the winter.  Here is a short list of places you might consider visiting with the kids:

Eindhoven museums that might hold children’s interest for an hour or so are the DAF Truck Museum, and the Prehistoric Openair museum. The van Abbe modern art museum is also supposed to offer some children’s art classes in the afternoon.

Within about an hour’s drive of Eindhoven, there are more than a handful of interesting things for children to do and see.  Here are some:
